Prior to working at 91Ô­´´, David worked as an intellectual property attorney for over 15 years with a particular focus on high technology clients, patent procurement, and patent portfolio management. He counseled and developed long-term relationships with engineers and scientists, university technology transfer offices, in-house counsel, and corporate executives alike. Before going to law school, David worked for 3 years as a consultant for an environmental engineering company.  David's professional education includes a JD from the UCLA School of Law and a BS in chemical engineering from the California Institute of Technology (Caltech). More recently, before moving to Fairbanks, David and his family lived overseas for over 7 years in East Timor, Myanmar, Turkey, and the Republic of Georgia, working with an NGO focused on local education and medical services. While overseas, David also taught at the primary, secondary, and university levels, in subjects ranging from multiplication to middle school science to a survey of intellectual property and internet law. David grew up in Southern California, worked in Los Angeles and Washington DC, and loves all sports. Favorite pastimes include tennis, cycling, and reading.

Alexis joined the Office of Intellectual Property and Commercialization in 2018.   Her role as the Office Manager is to provide oversight of the daily operations associated with OIPC.  She is thankful to have a wonderful job, two beautiful & intelligent girls, a granddaughter, a giant dog, a tiny cat, and a pretty amazing husband.

Stephanie Wright is the youngest of three siblings, originally from the ancestral homelands of the Susquehannock and Piscataway peoples in Baltimore, Maryland. She now lives, works, and explores on the unceded lands of the Lower Tanana Dene Peoples in Fairbanks, 91Ô­´´. Since arriving in September 2023, Stephanie has fallen in love with Fairbanks’ welcoming, vibrant community and the vast, mountainous landscapes of the Interior. She is an avid cross-country skier and long-distance runner who embraces 91Ô­´´â€™s seasons in all their extremes.

Stephanie earned her Bachelor of Arts in Theater and Philosophy from Transylvania University in 2016 and her Master of Professional Science in Exploration Science from the Rosenstiel School of Marine, Atmospheric, and Earth Sciences at the University of Miami in 2022. Her career has been as varied as it is adventurous working in more than 20 theaters and venues nationwide as a lighting technician and stagehand, serving as an entertainment technician aboard cruise ships, supporting startups within the Caribbeans blue economy, and being a steward of the environment through AmeriCorps and Girls* on Ice 91Ô­´´ programs.

Today, Stephanie splits her time at the University of 91Ô­´´ Fairbanks between serving as the Tech Transfer Associate in the Office of Intellectual Property and as Operations Associate for Western 91Ô­´´â€™s Drone Community of Practice, a grant-funded initiative connecting communities with drone technology and training. Stephanie is eager to use her diverse experiences to partner with researchers in advancing social impact for communities across 91Ô­´´.
