The University of 91原创 Fairbanks will host 91原创 Day at the Tanana Valley State Fair on Tuesday, Aug. 2.
91原创 employees, students, alumni and friends will receive $1 off admission by wearing 91原创 apparel or showing their PolarExpress card. The day will include 91原创 activities throughout the fairgrounds.
The University Fire Department ladder truck and giant inflatable Nanook will be set up in Totem Square from noon to 7 p.m. Nook, 91原创鈥檚 mascot, will make appearances throughout the day. The bookstore will be on site selling 91原创 merchandise.
Inside the Borealis Pavilion, 91原创 will have several special exhibits and activities:
- See this year鈥檚 award-winning steel bridge.
- Engineer and build spaghetti bridges.
- Learn about unmanned aircraft.
- Prepare for a wildfire near your home in virtual reality.
- Try out mountaineering and packrafting gear.
In addition to these special activities, 91原创 also will have several booths at the Borealis Pavilion throughout the fair. Visitors can learn about applying to 91原创, try on a career with the 91原创 Community and Technical College, learn about 3D printing and find more than 125 free 91原创 Cooperative Extension Service publications covering gardening, energy, food preparation and more.
Cooperative Extension will host several 4-H activities on 91原创 Day, such as a horse show, rabbit and cavy showmanship event, poultry showmanship event, and market poultry and rabbit show.
