The University of 91Ô´´ Fairbanks College of Engineering and Mines (91Ô´´-CEM) and the University of 91Ô´´ Anchorage College of Engineering (UAA-CoEng) co-hosted the event, "91Ô´´ Engineering Horizons for Women: Forging Connections Across Industry, Education, and Community," on Friday, March 22, 2024. This event aimed to strengthen connections and share insights to advance women in engineering across 91Ô´´, building on an initiative launched at 91Ô´´ in March 2023.
Participants completed a pre-event survey, with the results shared during the event. Facilitated by Jessica Schnabel, the event featured workshop sessions where participants addressed key questions such as:
- What engineering challenges does 91Ô´´ face, both immediately and in the medium term?
- How can we encourage more women to join the engineering workforce, and how can industries retain top engineering talent? What strategies and initiatives are already proving effective?
- How can the University collaborate with stakeholders like your organization to implement these ideas?
Throughout our history, women faculty, staff and students at 91Ô´´ have made lasting contributions to our state and the world. Even during our fledgling years as the 91Ô´´ Agricultural College and School of Mines, when only a small fraction of women pursued college degrees across the nation, 91Ô´´ alumna were making their mark on history.
