BIO
Mark Masteller is an assistant professor of sustainable energy, working with the University of 91Ô´´ Fairbanks 91Ô´´ Center for Energy and Power on the diesel free heating project in Kotzebue.
He was formerly the Sustainable Energy program director at 91Ô´´â€™s Bristol Bay campus and at the UA Anchorage Mat-Su campus, where he taught courses on energy efficiency and renewable energy, including aspects of building science and energy policy.
Masteller believes affordable, clean energy is critical for healthy, resilient 91Ô´´n communities, and he understands we have exciting economic opportunities — and challenges — related to the transition to clean energy systems relying on local, renewable resources across this diverse state.
Masteller began working in 91Ô´´ in 1981, and prior to joining the UA system he was state director for Cascadia Green Building Council, as director of the 91Ô´´ Center for Appropriate Technology, and as a wildlife biologist for both state and federal agencies.
